The report of the Public Sector Pensions Commission has now been published. It finds that public sector pensions are worth, on average, at least 40 per cent of salary, warns that contributions may need to rise sharply if benefits remain unchanged and sets out a menu of options for reform.

Public Sector Pensions Commission report will launch on 7 July

The Public Sector Pensions Commission will be launching its report on Wednesday 7 July at the Institute of Directors, from 9 for 9.30am – 11.30am. The Commission’s report will set out clearly how the costs of public sector pensions are far higher than the Government admits, how full transparency on costs will be essential if meaningful changes are to be carried out, and how a number of reform options could lead to substantial savings.

Public Sector Pensions Commission commends coalition proposal to establish government commission

The Public Sector Pensions Commission, an independent body comprised of experts in pension policy, believes there is an urgent need for radical reform of public sector pensions. We therefore welcome the coalition’s decision to set up a government commission to look at this area.
